[Hotel Negresco letterhead] [February] 2nd, 1919 Dear Folks:- Well I am at last on my leave, left Boncourt hte morn of [January] 30th, arrived in Paris about 8 o'clock that nite - stayed in Paris till the next nite and then left for Nice arriving here last nite - had a fine time in Paris and saw many wonderful sights - will tell you all about them some time soon I hope, I am staying at the above hotel - sure is a grand place - it fronts on the Mediterrean Sea. sure is a swell place, sun shines all time and is nice and warm - just like June weather back home - expect to stay here about 8 or 9 days - my

leave gives me 14 days travel included - these French trains are so uncertain that you have to allow mor etime for travel - when I left the regiment they were thinking of moving - they say we are going home - I don't know may be only a rumor - sounds too good to be true - here's hoping it is true but dont neve rlook for me till I wire you that "I am in the States" - will try to drop you a few lines while I am on my leave - I am feeling fine and glad to get away from work - had my breakfast served in bed this morn - ha! ha! will try to give you a description of my trip when I return - hope all are well, Love to all, Your loving son, Kirk.
