Boncourt, France [February] 14th 1919 Dear Folks:- Well I am at last back again to work - got back the nite of the 12th - was expecting to find the regiment moved but didn't = we are expecting to move soon - I think it will be towards the coast - I sure had a great time on my leave and am glad I took it - I hav equite a few pictures of scenes I saw which I will bring back wit hme - I believe I told you I saw Paul down to Nice and was with him quite a time - sure glad to see him - Upon my return to the company I found lots of mail waiting for me and it sure looked good as it had been some time since I had heard from you - letters from yo udated [January] 11th, 12th, 16th, 20th, 23rd - were here, also one from Ruth, Chas. Kirk, Dell & Tobe and Isabel Milligan - sure had a great time reading letters from home - glad to get them and will try to answer soon - also enjoyed the clippings you sent - was so glad to get Ruth's picture - sure is a good one - I didn't have my picture taken with my mustache - have shaved it off - will wait till I get back and then have a good picture taken -

Tell Allan I enjoyed his letter and that I am trying to get him a helmet - are scarce back here but will do my best to get one - no our rooms are furnished us by the government- they pay so much a day for them - the rooms are in houses of the French, they stay in part of the house and we have a room of it - no, I have lost the pillow - lost it just after the drive - just before we went into the trenches at Verdun - hated to loste it - but a person loses quite a bit of stuff when they travel around as we do - several of the officers have lost their bedding rolls - hope I don't lose mine -well Dad am glad business is picking up - hope in continues - yes, the Clark boy is in my company - sure a good soldire - don't worry about replacing the money you used and want t ouse as I owe you that and much more besides - was surprised to hear of Littman's marriage, I know it would come some time soon but not so soon - well she can have him - well he had a chance to come over with "G" but he was not so anxious, he dreaded to face the bullets, am sorry to hear of Anne Hume sickness- hope she is better now - also Mr. Davis being so poorly - he is getting real old - the weather here is cool - snow on the ground and has been for several weeks - we are doing a little drill - just drill in the mornings - afternoons are devoted to games and athletics - the boys sure enjoy them - boys in "G" seem to be OK - have not seen Farris since I came back from leave - Milligan saw him the other day - said he was OK - tomorrow is our weekly inspection - everything has to be shining - I expect Pifer is having some time, well he can tell tales that are almost unbelievable if a person had never been thru it - Pifer has seen quite

a bit of service - we all are real busy now - am glad of it as time passes much faster - [February] is half gone and spring is nearly here - they say winter here is as far as March - we have not had any severe weather as yet - hope all of you are well - I am feeling fine - fat as a pig - my clothes are getting too small for me - no more news - will write you again soon - hope to see you soon but just be patient because some of these days I will be marching homeward - tell everyone hello - Lots of love to all, Your loving son, Kirk.
