Boncourt, France [December] 26th 1918 Dear Folks: - I hope that each of you had a Merry Xmas - I had as good a Xmas as possible to have in France - all the boys seem to have had a good time - in the company we had chicken & goose for dinner - scouted around over France and bought them - last nite a bunch of the officers had a chicken supper - had a fine feed - pie, cake, chicken, eggs, mashed potatoes, bread, butter, canned pears - how's that for a Xmas feed - had a letter from Ruth tonite - sure was glad to get it - by this time she is at home - says she gets 3 weeks - am glad of it - we are only drilling 1/2 a day - the afternoon we have off - JOhnnie is back with the company - sure glad to see him - seemed as if seeing a brother - he is feeling fine - he came in the 24th Xmas eve - French had a great time Xmas - had mass at midnight Xmas eve, they were all drinking their wine and having big feeds, weather remains rainy & cloudy, also had a letter from MIss Bertha tonite - had a Xmas card from Jess Dugger & wife - thank them for me - I will try to write Vern a letter - a great many of the boys that were

wounded in the drive are now returning - glaad to see all of them - Jesse Cates got back - I think he was gassed - I am feeling fine. hope all of you are - boys in "G" seem to be OK - don't know any news - hope to be home soon - can not find out just what part we are playing - maybe one of these days we will head for the coase - had a letter from Elmer congratulating me on my promotion - am getting along fine - write me all the news - will close - hello & best regards to everyone - Goodnite, Lots of love to all, Your loving son, Kirk, OK RKBrady Capt Co "K" 140th Inf.
