Boncourt, France [December] 23 1918. Dear Folks:- Well will drop a few lines - no news to speak of - drilling every day- weather still continues to rain - seems as if it is never going to clear up - just got thru eating supper - had beefsteak, fried potatoes, jam, butter & bread - good enough for a king, isnt it - well won't be long till Xmas - time is flying past - Guess HOney is planning on a big time - a lot of the pleasure of Xmas is slowly passing away at our house - children all growing up - but then there is still left the pleasure of receiving and giving presents - I know you all will have a happy Xmas - I will have a good time but not like the "home-time" - am arranging for an extra good dinner for the boys - trying to buy some geese, of course it will be a holiday - I hope time continues to fly by till we get back to U.S.A. several of the "G" boys got back today from the hospital - Clay Baker, Ed. Ward and several others that you don't know - Clay rushed up to see me - he comes to me for anything he wants - I guess he thinks I am the greatest man over here, he said he had a letter from papa, Ed Ward said he saw

Albert Watkins in the hospital - his wound was very slight - hit with a machine gun bullet - I see in the papers where they are mustering them out pretty fast. hope htey soon start on the A.E.F. - ha! ha! ha. wrote Miss June a letter but forgot to state about the handkerchief - Thank her for me - don't seem to be much sickness in our regiment - seems remarkable to me - am glad of it and hope it continues - I am feeling fine - seems as if I get fatter every day - Say give my best regards to Mr. & Mrs. Neal Sullivan, guess Ruth is getting home by now - happy kid I know, hope all of you are OK, also that business will begin to pick up - don't understand why you haven't received my Liberty Bonds - guess you will some day- you get my allotments OK dont you? that allotment runs out next month - I will then have to make a new one - hope to be starting home by then - well no news - will write again in a few days - am feeling OK - tell everyone, hello, Lots of love to all, Your loving son.
