Boncourt, France [December] 18, 1918. Dear Folks:- Another rainy, damp, cool day - we are having lots of such weather now - good weather for sickness but there don't seem to be much - I am feeling fine - believe I am getting heavier - lost some weight while we were doing so much fighting - well my Xmas box came yesterday - was sure glad to get it - everything was in good shape - am now smoking one of the cigars - just got thru eating a piece of cake - gosh that was good cake and candy - I sure am thankful to you all for the box - it was so good to eat some "home-made" eats - several of hte boys have gotten their boxes - some come in every day - see the "G" boys every day - all seem to be OK - see where the armistice has been extended to [January] 17th - hope it dont take them long to sign up peace terms - wrote a Paul a letter the other day - I htink he is near here - Col. Clark is with the 88th and was down to see us the other day - you know he used to be Lieut - Col - in 140th - Col. Gray is our Regimental commander now - Lt. Col.

Delephane is over Lt. col. - Major Mabrey has gone to the 137th Inf. that is in our Division - don't know where Col. Linxwiler is or what he is doing. we are drilling every day - not very hard - just enough to keep in trim - we dont know what we might have to do over here - well, how is business - ought to do big business next year - hope you do - this year has been hard on you - so much war work to do - well let us hope that nobody else ever gets the fool idea that he can whip the world - cause I dont think he can - how is Billie Duval making it? have never heard from him- I think Phelps had a letter from him just before we went into the drive - Phelps was sure a good soldier and I sure miss him - had been with me since we hit Nevada - his sister (Louis Blankenships wife) wrote me a letter awhile back asking about George - I answered it and told her all I knew - hope all of you are well and enjoying life - I will be home some time soon - Tell everyone hello - will close - hoping to get a letter today - will write as often as I can - Lots of love to all, Your loving son, Kirk - OK R.K.Brady Cpt. 140th Inf.
