[December] 13th 1918 - Boncourt, near Commercy - Dear Folks:- Am unusually happy tonite as I received some mail today - sure glad to get it - had letters from you dated [November] 18th, 21st & 25th - also had a long letter from Louise - 2 Xmas cards -one from the "Webers" and the other from Thedosia Moore - she seems to be in Idaho - no I am not thinking of re-enlisting - am just about caught up in my army life - oh I wouldn't mind staying in the National Guard - but right now I am fed up on the army - of course we don't know when we will get to come home - there is lots here yet to do - peace is not signed yet and we have to keep in trim so we can be ready for anything that might come up - yes your price of poetry hits every A.E.F. boy - a letter from home sure looks good - only thing it takes so long for us to get them but mail service is so much better we have no kick coming - I sure will enjoy the Xmas box - glad you got the tag - wish I could send each one of you something but I will

have to wait and bring it with me - thanks for sending me the Xmas things - I sure will enjoy them - am so glad Ruth is getting along so well at school - I know it will help her wonderfully in several ways - am glad the "flu" is getting better - guess they will make up the lost time in school up at end of school term - saw in papers where Bro. Stark is going to remain in Richmond - am glad of that - yes I guess that was my name - he told me he was going to give me a writeup - would like to see the piece - I can get a helmet over here if I need one - won't have to stay in the trenches so I dont think I will need it - hope to be home some time soon - wish I knew - don't understand about you not receiving the Liberty Bonds - guess they will send them same day - yes a year ago I was getting ready to cross the pond now I am wondering when we will across to hte Old U.S. - we have nice quarters - I have electric lights, stove, a nice big feather bed and big room with table, chairs etc - Capt. Truman and myself stay together - 2 beds in the room - sure enough sheets on the bed - weather here is damp cool and rainy - sure is nasty weather - I am feeling fine - see the "G" boys every day - all are OK - I hear Wilkie has started for U.S. - dont know how true

it is - have never seen him since he went to the hospital - he got a good shot of gass but made it OK - sure hated to lose him - him and I seemed like brothers - sure is a fine old boy - am always glad to hear from home - had a fine lettter from Louise - said she was going home Xmas - dont worry I will be home some time soon - just as soon as Uncle Sam brings us - believe me I am staying at home when I get there - going to take a vacation - hope all of you are well - tell all my friends hello - hope all of you have a Merry Xmas & Happy New Year - will close - will write as often as I can - I hope by this time you have had seceral letters from me - Goodnite - Lots of love to all, Your loving son, Kirk - OK RKBrady Capt Co "K" 140th Inf.
