[August] 5th [1918] Dear Folks:- 12 30 a.m. Just a few lines - raining here tonite - a bad misty nite to be on the frenches - boys are OK and waiting for Fritzie - jsut a year ago today sincee we were called into service - time has passed quickly - hope the next year passes as quickly - think we will be relieved soon - hope so any how - long enough to get a bath - I am feeling fine - couldn't feel better if I wanted too - sometimes a little nervous when the "big boys" sing over but that wears off - don't know any news - enclosed you will find the allotment - it is the correct one - explanations are on the bottom of it - hope all of you are well - will write you a larger one in a few days - ought to get some more mail soon - will have to close as business is going to pick up before noon I think - hope Fritz comes over as I want to get a few - Goodnite - Lots of love to all Your loving son Kirk.
