August 4th [1918] Dear Folks:- Nothing to do tonite so, will drop you a few lines - Fritz is very quiet so far tonite - raining and very cool - bad nite and just the kind that he would like to slip in on you - enclosed you will find an allotment application of mine - dont know whether it will be accepted or not but am sending you a copy - let me know - whenever you receive it put it in the bank or use it just s you like - I have no use for it over here. if you need it use it. if you can make a loan with it do it - in fact use it just as you see fit - it is for

use and do as you like with it - if I draw it and keep it here I will spend it - in fact I have no use for it at all - expect before long you will receive my Liberty Bond - that sure was a good investment guess you paid my insurance. when you receive allotment take it out and the W.O.W. Ins- also money you loaned me before I came in the army - Nothing new - am feeling fine everything looks good to a victory before long - hpe all are well. France, August 3rd, 1918. From: 1st Lieut. Robert K. Brady, Co. "G" 140th Infantry. To: Depot Quartermaster, Washington, D.C. (thru channels) Subject: Allotment of pay. 1. I hereby make application for an allotment of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) to be paid to Durward B. Brady, Richmond, Missouri, U.S.A., commencing August 1st, 1918, and expiring January 31st, 1919. 2. I will deduct $100.00 per month from my pay voucher for the period mentioned above. Robert K. Brady, 1st Lt. N.G. 140th Inf Tear the one up that I sent you the other day. It was dated August 3rd - the diff in the (2) is that I specified dates to commence and expire. Also added par. (2). this is the correct one for you to keep. Kirk.
