[April 19, 1918] [Thursday] morn Dear Folks:- First time I have had to write you - sent you a card the day I arrived - have been very busy equipping the CO. we will only be here a few days and then "over there", sure will be glad when we get started - Cecil is on the ocean - did not get to see him. we had a fine trip up here - hit all the big cities - have not been on Broadway yet, am going to try and get up to N.Y. only 21 miles from our camp - This is a pretty nice camp - had a rain last nite and things are a little muddy - sure do work you nite & day, do not

know much news- have not much time to write - guess this busy time will be over soon - hope all of you are well0 Loyd Roberts, Walter Schooly and a few more Ray County Boys are up here - I dont think they will get in 140th - as we are about filled - Co "G" has 235 men - some Co. - will close - Lots of love to all, Your loving son - Kirk.
