William M. Floyd letter to John L. Barkley - September 10, 1946

Transcript

September 10, 1946 Mr. John Lewis Barkley 5326 W 50 Highway Merriam, Kansas Dear John and Wife: I am very disappointed that you did not stop in to see us on your way back from Boston, but it was indeed very nice to talk to you and I expect to see you in the near future. John, I leave here at 9 O'clock and arrive in Kansas City, Missouri on Flight 201, T.V.A. Monday the 16th, and this is to inform you, your Misses and the baby that I will be an uninvited guest the evening of the 16th at your home, although I expect the Post Commander and some of the officers of 317 and possibly 341 to be at the Airport. I figure if I go to the hotel I will not be able to have much of a visit with you, but on the 17th my plans are now to visit Captain Pleasant in the hospital and I don't know what day they are calling a Meeting in my behalf. But remembers, you have a date with me on this coming Monday! I hope that you have made your plans to go to the Convention. If you will see the Colonial Airways and make your reservation for transportation, I would like to have you there at least one day, and I know that you can make this for it's been 27 years since we have seen each other. Don't forget to take your wife along; Mrs. Floyd will be waiting in Denver upon your arrival. If you cannot see your way clear to stay for a whole convention, be sure you make it Saturday for the Banquet. John, give everyone my best regards, and I'll be seeing you next Monday. Your old Buddy, [signature] W. M. Floyd WMF:MCL
