[censor signature] August 7, 1918 My dear Mother. While the French Band is playing Joan of Arc it makes me think of home so here goes for a fiew lines to let you know that I am well as I ever was in my life. I have been up to the front for some time and as good luck will some time take possession of some people I came out in the best of condition. I have been where the rest have been, and am proud to say I came back with an honorable word of mention from my officers for doeing more than my share of the game.
