Camp Funston [Kansas] [February] 23, 1918 Dear Cocky. Am still at Funston and dont know just when I will depart. Half of the camp is moving now. We went up to the personal office yesterday and signed up for over sea duty. he said we may not leave for a month or so that we were going east and would stay there till we saw fit to move. We may move from here any day we don't know when. We are not drilling nor doeing anything eating and sleeping. These men that are going now are men who are apparentices and workmen's helpers. I passed as a mechanics helper. They asked me a thousand Question about mechinery and the care of tools. So you see I will get some king of a machinical job. There is 3000 new recruits comming

in here today. I wonder if William R is one of them. How is princess Marie? and Sister probably I know more about them than you. All of the boys out here are kept away from the depot, dozens of them sees that they have to go and they are "going over the hill" Did you ever know Roscoe Glarebrown. He knocked a captain in the hed and he is going to goe over the road for 25 or thirty. Well I must close and write another letter. Mack, the niger was up to see me the other day. The boys all wanted to run him out but I said "let this niger along" and before Mack left he had all of them converted. I must close and write to Cathleen F I got a letter from her yesterday. Answer.
