Stonebridge Trench Lantern
Details
Title | Stonebridge Trench Lantern |
Description | Portability was a key feature of any well designed trench equipment. Objects like lanterns could be bulky and did not fit well into a soldier’s haversack, and made too much noise when clipped on externally. The solution was the development of a foldable lantern soldiers could easily take with them as they moved from one position to another. Manufactured by Charles H. Stonebridge in 1906 the foldable lantern also found a favorable audience with campers and outdoor enthusiast. They were produced from galvanized steel, brass, and aluminum. The “glass” is actually thin sheets of translucent mica stone. |
