Description	These two jagged metal pieces are fragments from an exploded ordinance. Fragmentation devices such as artillery rounds and grenades were designed to explode, or fragment, near or above an intended target, showering it with sharp metallic pieces projected at high velocity. Wounds caused by fragmented shells and grenades caused traumatic injuries to soldiers on both sides of the fight. Many soldiers who were hit by such material lost life and limb due to the severe injuries they suffered.
