Rifle Grenade
Details
Title | Rifle Grenade |
Description | Early versions of the rifle grenade were simply hand grenades with a disk and rod attached to the bottom, so they could be propelled by the expelled gas and pressure of a rifle shot fired with a blank cartridge. Many attempts to propel grenades were unsuccessful. Later on during the war the United States elongated the profile of the grenade and made the rod hollow to catch gas for greater propulsion and was fitted with a plunger to detonate upon impact. These units were more successful than earlier incarnations of the rifle grenade. |
