Description | Mexican Border Service medal awarded to Roland Reinholdt for his duty in the Missouri National Guard. The back of the medal reads "For Service on the Mexican Border." Congress authorized the medal in 1918 to recognize a soldier’s service on Mexican Border Patrol between January 1, 1916 and April 6, 1917. Reinholdt served as a First Lieutenant in the 138th Infantry, 35th Division during World War I. He earned a Distinguished Service Cross on September 26, 1918 for capturing 13 Germans and a machine gun nest. |
