Red Cross Scarf and Mitten
Details
Title | Red Cross Scarf and Mitten |
Description | Scarf and mittens sent to Frank C. Mitchell by volunteers of the American Red Cross. A native of St. Louis, Mitchell served as a plumber and ship fitter in the navy. Although the scarf was made from a Red Cross pattern, the mittens were privately purchased. Red Cross volunteers labored tirelessly to send items like these to service members overseas. Their efforts contributed greatly to the overall morale and well-being of American troops during the war. |
