Title | Red Cross Knitting Needles |
Description | American Red Cross knitting needles used to make socks for soldiers. The largest civilian support organization in America during the war, Red Cross volunteers labored tirelessly to send items like this to service members. In addition to socks, volunteers made head scarves, gloves, and wristlets from a standard pattern. All items were subject to strict quality control to ensure they could be used by Allied troops.
