Patriotic Naval Apron Frank Mitchell
Details
Title | Patriotic Naval Apron Frank Mitchell |
Description | Patriotic naval apron sent by Frank C. Mitchell to his girlfriend and future wife Edna Kessler in St. Louis. A native of St. Louis, Mitchell trained as a plumber and ship fitter at the naval training station in Great Lakes, Illinois when he sent this handmade apron to Edna. The apron is cut from a dress neckerchief, the waistband and ties are from a hatband, and the pocket is made from a 1st class plumber and ship fitter’s badge. It represents a typical memento service members sent to their loved ones at home. |
