Model 1917 Rifle

Details

Title Model 1917 Rifle
Description United States M1917 Enfield rifle. Often referred to as the “American Enfield,” the M1917 was patterned on the British P14. American manufacturers struggled to supply the army’s standard issue rifle, the M1903, when the United States entered the war. With the P14 already in production, they patterned this weapon on the British model, but used the American .30-06 caliber. It was operated with a five round stripper clip and had an effective range of 600 yards. Over half of the American soldiers who served in France during World War I were armed with this rifle.
