Description | This leg brace belonged to and was brought home with Joseph J. Koch of St. Louis. Joseph J. Koch served in the Missouri National Guard and was commissioned as a First Lieutenant of the 1st Infantry Regiment. He participated in Pershing’s expedition into Mexico, was later promoted to Major and was wounded in action during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Koch uses this leg brace after sustaining his injuries. The brace provided insight into medical practices of the day. |
