Title | German Death’s Head Busby |
Description | The Husaren Pelzmütze or Death’s Head Busby was worn by German Hussars or light cavalry troops. Many nations prior to WW1 had light cavalry soldiers classified as Hussars, Germany was no different. This busby features the Totenkopf or skull and crossbones symbol, and was also worn by German high command as well as the German light cavalry. The hats are typically made from animal furs to provide warmth in colder climates, and with the addition of the Totenkopf, makes for an intimidating piece of headgear. The same symbol was adopted by Hitler’s death squads in the Second World War. |
