Camp Telephone Model 1917
Details
Title | Camp Telephone Model 1917 |
Description | WWI saw the introduction of modern telecommunication equipment to the battlefield. Now officers could quickly communicate between one another, while simultaneously staying connected to base camps and headquarters. Such means of communication allowed a quicker response to the threats of advancing troops, and to get offensives moving swiftly, as well as relaying basic orders from Commanders to field officers. The entire device could be compressed down into its wooden housing, allowing them to be easily transported from camp to camp. On the inside of the lid, there were detailed operating instructions and a diagram of the wiring contained within the device for repairs. |
