| Description | This Blue Star banner belonged to Rosa Kelso, mother of James Virgil Thomas from Willard, Missouri. Blue Star banners hung in the windows of homes to let people on the street know the household had a son in active military service. Thomas was a pilot with Squadron L based out of San Diego, California. He died during a transcontinental air race used to promote the air service in 1919. |
