Description | World War I pennant with the inscription “Fighting 89th, St. Louis Welcomes You.” A figure on horseback and the division patch are also featured. The 89th Division used this pennant when the division passed through St. Louis on its way to demobilize at Camp Funston in 1919. Known as the “Middle West” Division, the 89th trained at Camp Funston, Kansas before sailing for France. The division saw heavy combat in the St. Mihiel Offensive and the Battle of the Meuse-Argonne. |
