Description | Veteran Samuel Frank of the 138th Infantry, 35th Division wore this World War I Forty and Eight Veteran’s Organization Shirt. The Forty and Eight was formed in 1920 as a branch of the American Legion. The Forty and Eight received their name from the French box cars that transported forty men or eight horses to the front lines. The shirt is made from horizon blue, the colors of the French army. |
