Pettis County Doughboy Statue

One example of E.M. Viquensey’s “Spirit of the American Doughboy” statues, located in Sedalia, Missouri. It is made from pressed copper, and has a copyright stamp of 1920, attributed to Walter Rylander, one time business partner to Viquensey. It was dedicated on November 12, 1926, and commemorates the service of Pettis County Veterans of the Great War. Names of Veterans from America’s later foreign wars have been added to the memorial.
