Missouri Over There

Iron County WWI Memorial

Description

This memorial to fallen soldiers was carved into the pink granite stones of Elephant Rocks State Park in 1918 shortly after the signing of the armistice on November 11 of that year. The inscription has faded over time and is now accompanied by a metal transcription plate that has been marred over time by park visitors. The monument stands along the Braille Trail at the state park on the southeastern portion of the trail and is not easily visible.
