Buchanan County Doughboy

Description

Located in the Mount Mora Cemetery, in St. Joseph, Missouri stands a Doughboy Statute dedicated to the men who served during WWI from Buchanan County. Dedicated in September of 1926, in front of a crowd of over 300, the statue was built by the Missouri Granite Company. It was commissioned by The Pershing Chapter No. 1, Service Star Legion. The project cost $3,560 and was funded via poppy sales and donations from relatives of war veterans.
