Missouri Over There

Boyce, Joseph Collection

Hubert Ward was a captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps and served with the British Expeditionary Force in France during World War I.  Ward led the 1st Cavalry Field Ambulance and had over 100 men and horses under his command.  Beginning in 1915, Ward wrote to his cousin, Joseph Boyce, a Confederate veteran of the American Civil War who lived in St. Louis.  This collection contains correspondence from several individuals to Boyce, including a number of letters from Ward that describe the Battles of Mons Le Cateau in 1914.
