Title Lighter
Description Commemorative lighter presented to soldiers in the 35th Division upon their return to St. Louis in 1919. This lighter belonged to August Rausendorf. A statue of St. Louis is featured on one side with figures representing France and the United States on the other. It is inscribed “St. Louis To The Front” and “From A Grateful City To Her Gallant Sons.” Soldiers from the Missouri and Kansas National Guards formed the 35th Division. They suffered heavy casualties during the Battle of the Argonne Forest in 1918.
