Title	British Military Cross
Description	This Military Cross, given for “acts of exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy,” was awarded to Lieutenant Ewart Alan Mackintosh of the 5th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders (51st Highland Division). The back of the metal was issued without engraving, allowing recipients to have it engraved. Recipients were also entitled to use the letters M.C. after their name.
